Dr. M. N. Qureshi
 

Dr. Mohammed Naseeb Qureshi, formerly Advisor (Earth Sciences) in the Department of Sciences and Technology, Government of India was appointed as the first Director of the NAM S&T Centre in August 1989 at the age of 58. Dr. Qureshy passed his M.Sc. from Aligarh Muslim University, India in 1953, and did D.Sc. in Exploration Geophysics from the Colorado School of Mines, USA in 1958.  In USA, he worked in academic institutions as well as private industry before returning to India in 1962. He was involved in the establishment of the National Remote Sensing Agency, Department of Ocean Development, National Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasting and Agro-meteorological Advisory Services, Natural Resources Data Management System, conceptualization of District Data Bases for Micro level planning, study of the Himalaya and several other activities of social relevance needing scientific inputs. He was also the Vice-President of the Geological Society of India and Society of Management Science and Applied Cybernatics.
